Rates for freelancers in Thailand seem to be all over the place lately — some girls ask for 1,000 baht, others won’t budge for less than 4,000. It depends on the city, the girl, the time, and sometimes your shoes. So let’s compare notes: what’s the usual rate for a freelancer these days in Bangkok or Pattaya? Short-time vs. long-time? Street vs. online? And what kind of service are you getting for the price?
I was in Bangkok a couple of weeks ago, mostly hanging around Nana Plaza and Sukhumvit Soi 4. Freelancers in the beer bars and outside Nana are usually asking around 2,000–2,500 baht for short time these days. A few will push higher if they think you’re new off the plane, but if you buy a drink and chat a bit, the usual rate settles in that range. Long time (overnight back at your hotel) is closer to 4,000 baht. Prices have definitely crept up compared to pre-COVID.
On Walking Street and Beach Road you’ll see a lot of freelancers. Right now, most are quoting 1,500–2,000 baht short time, and about 2,500–3,000 baht long time if you want them to stay the night. In LK Metro and some of the smaller sois, you can still find girls happy with 1,000 baht short time, especially if business is slow. Pattaya still has more competition than Bangkok, so the prices are usually a bit lower.
Bangla Road in Patong is full of freelancers after midnight, mostly hanging outside the beer bars and clubs. The going rate is 2,500–3,000 baht short time, with some asking 4,000+ for overnight. Phuket has a higher tourist markup compared to Pattaya, so don’t be surprised if first quotes are inflated. That said, if you’re polite and not drunk, you can usually agree on something closer to Bangkok levels.
