If you are imagining another Pattaya, however, forget that idea immediately.

Spark Hatyai

Visitors staying around Lee Garden Plaza have also reported a ladyboy cabaret on the upper floor of Odean Shopping Mall across from the hotel area.

Greenway is popular with a younger local crowd and combines food, inexpensive fashion and an easy evening atmosphere.
It is not adult nightlife, but it gives you a much better impression of Hat Yai after dark than spending your entire trip inside bars.
What About Escorts and Freelancers?
Hat Yai does have freelancers and commercial sex, particularly around the central tourist and nightlife areas, but there is nothing comparable to the enormous freelancer scenes around Pattaya Beach Road or Bangkok’s Nana and lower Sukhumvit.

There is no enormous neon red light district waiting to reveal itself around the next corner.

The following night, do something completely different.
Try a small cocktail bar such as Poco Loko or Sin Tonic, visit one of the city’s live music venues and see the side of Hat Yai that Malaysians and southern Thais have been enjoying long before most Western tourists even learned where the city was.
Hat Yai is not Bangkok and it is definitely not Pattaya.
That is not its weakness.
That is the reason to go.
