I visit a lot of massage places outside the tourist areas in the local neighborhoods I frequent.
Typical price is 400 baht for a one hour oil massage.
Many of ladies attempt to upsell a special ending.
For this kind of place and price point, what do the ladies typically get paid for that if you agree to the upsell? HJ only? Whats the range?
I can’t really answer what the lady normally receives from the shop for the upsell, because I suspect that varies quite a bit from place to place.
But on tipping, I look at it in two ways.
Sometimes the tip is simply a thank you for good service. Other times it is also a bit of an investment in my next visit. If I like the lady and know I may come back, I want her to remember me as the customer who treated her well.
For a normal 400 baht one-hour oil massage, if the service is good I will usually leave around 100 baht. If the service was particularly good, or I know I want to see the same lady again, I may leave more.
So for me the tip is sometimes a thank you, sometimes an investment in the next visit, and quite often a combination of both.
